Michigan Center for Dermatology Safety Guidelines
Michigan Center for Dermatology cares about you and the communities we serve and want you to know that we have implemented new protocols for your dermatological visit to reduce the risk of transmission of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The new protocols listed below provide you valuable information on how to prepare for your visit, how our teams are screening for the Coronavirus and what to expect during your visit.
Preparing for your dermatology visit
• Patients will be required to wear protective masks during their visit so please bring and wear your own mask or if you don’t have a mask, one will be provided to you.
• Patients should come to their visit alone unless the patient visiting is a dependent (child or other dependent) and requires a guardian’s care to support the dermatology visit.
• Bring your mobile device as you may be required to wait in your car for your appointment time (be sure to check-in at the office when you arrive).
• All patients will be asked a few questions and have their temperature checked as a pre-screening for the Coronavirus
• Patients who fail the screening will be asked to reschedule their appointments and will be provided suggestions regarding follow-up and educational material about COVID – 19. We will also ask additional questions seeking more detail from patients that fail the screening protocol.
Arriving at our Clinic
• Before exiting your car, please secure your mask. If you did not bring a mask, one will be made available for you inside the office.
• When you enter the building, please make sure to keep a safe social distance of 6 ft or more from any other visitors, patients and from staff members as you enter the building and office.
• As an additional screening for the Coronavirus, a staff member will safely check your temperature and ask you a few screening questions.
• When your pre-screening has been completed, the front desk team member will provide additional instructions on where to wait for your appointment to maintain safe social distancing.
• If there is adequate room in the waiting room to maintain a safe social distance of 6ft from other patients and staff members, the front desk will ask you to wait in the waiting room.
• If there is not sufficient space, the front desk will ask you to wait in your car to maintain safe social distancing. Please be prepared to provide your mobile phone number so that they can notify you when your provider is ready for your appointment.
• The front desk will then call or text you when the dermatology provider is ready for your appointment.
Seeing your dermatology provider
• When your dermatology provider is ready to see you, a team member will contact you to come in for your visit
• Please make sure to wear your protective mask
• The provider will be wearing a protective mask and gloves to reduce the risk of transmission of the Coronavirus and ensure your safety during the visit.
Cleaning and Sanitation
• After every visit all exam room surfaces are wiped down with CDC approved cleaning products
• All office surfaces are disinfected daily with CDC approved disinfecting agents
After your dermatology appointment
• Carefully remove your mask and remember to avoid touching your face until you can wash your hands
• When you arrive home, wash your hands for 20 seconds or more as an additional precautions
